APAL COVID-19 update – postage and freight

April 20, 2020

Thank you to all our valued customers for your continued support during the past month and sampling season. First and foremost, we hope that you, your families and employees are keeping safe and well during these challenging times.

As we know, ‘normal’ has changed drastically within the last four to six weeks which has brought many challenges with it both personally and professionally which very few of us have ever experienced before. Each day forward is a step into the unknown.

While APAL continues its business operations as ‘normal’, we would like to update you on the current situation regarding postage and freight.

  • As a result of the nation-wide restrictions being put in place, Australia Post has become more sporadic than we have previously experienced. It has become extremely difficult to get clarity on the regularity of service and track down samples, especially without a tracking number.
  • Due to the reduction of commercial air travel, we have experienced issues with our overnight air freight service from WA to SA. Again, this is sporadic and hard to track.

APAL staff are in constant communication with our freight partners to get a better understanding of when these issues are likely to arise and what alternatives can be put in place. It is important to know this is not regular and not all samples are affected or delayed.

What can you do?

  • Always send samples with a tracking number. It makes following-up a lot easier and we can escalate cases with a tracking number
  • Continue to communicate with APAL for any urgent requirements
  • Using APAL’s Farm2Lab app to submit samples will help with visibility of incoming samples and allow additional measures to be put in place to ensure freight is timely

APAL is here to support your business through these challenging times.

To all our customers, please continue to send your samples in!

If you or your business has any further concerns, please do not hesitate to contact General Manager Darryl Hartley, or Managing Directors Ryan Walker or Sam Bald by calling the Adelaide office on 08 8332 0199.

We will continue to keep you updated as often as necessary.

Regards,

Ryan and Anna Walker
